  3. I went to E3 today. It was nerd heaven. There’s more TV’s than a costco and more dudes eating funyuns and drinking Mountain Dew: Code Red than at MIT.

Nintendo and PlayStation both had fantastic looking setups that were full of fun game trailers, games and toys to play with, and “game girls”.

There was plenty of space to play the new Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword. limiting E3 to only industry folk is a great way to make every exhibit feel accessible and cut down on wait times. We walked right in to a preview of Saints Row: The Third (which looks like ridiculous fun).

We also were able to walk right up to play a demo of Starhawk, which was a lot of fun fun. It’s a Gears of War style third person shooter, but the multiplayer difference is that you get to build your own base as the game progresses.  Vehicles, sniper towers, fort walls, and other items are built by the players to create a dynamic map that makes for a different game each round.

There was also a great Xbox Kinect exhibit with pods of players able to try out different games like Star Wars Kinect. Motion control games dominated everywhere from Kinect, PlayStation Move, and UFC Trainer. I was disappointed by exhibitors like Activision, 2K, and EA who had very limited to zero playable games and had long lines for game previews.

Overall it was a great experience. Easy to get into, plenty of space for nerds to watch demos, previews, play games, and see live taping from IGN, CNN, G4, GameTrailers and more.

    Also, Jesus was there:
